A tragedy first. And More what Penn St didn't do... ugghhh
Interesting that a grand jury concluded, based upon his suicide note that he dealt with depression for his entire life and blamed that condition as the etiology of his suicide. I am surprised by the pictures of a kid with a gun to his head... seems a bit over the top... Some other hazing complaints are pretty weak, but the gun thing is way out of bounds...

Father sues Penn State over son's suicide

Rich Braham, the father of Marquise Braham -- an 18-year-old Penn State student who committed suicide -- has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Penn State University, the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity and four students. CNN's Sara Ganim talks with Rich and his wife Maille about their son.

Just get rid of frats already. They're an anachronism and a liability. I cannot believe they're still around.

Anyone else surprised that they scraped Ganim off of the bottom of the "journalism" barrel for another PSU-bashing story??

I didn't even read the CNN article. I found one by Reuters. Ganim is pathetic - until this article I can't think of the last time I heard her covering a story. She had her fifteen minutes and doesn't seem capble of doing anything but writing anout problems at her Alma Mater.

I'm sure one of them owns (or is on that board of) a check printing business.

This is a tragedy for the family, but Penn State is becoming a patsy for law suits. Scum bag lawyers realize that Penn State will roll over quickly since the money is eventually coming from the taxpayers and the Penn State brass clearly doesn't give a crap about taxpayer money.

Penn State cannot get a fair trial in/around State College. They should shudder doors for a couple years and see what happens to the Central PA economy. They absolutely should not pay for this tragedy.

Well, except that fact that not that a large percentage of PSU's budget comes from the taxpayers anymore. I know the Commonwealth's contribution is under 8%. Sure there's more taxpayer contributions in the form of research grants. But a lot of the money they are wasting comes from tuition and donations.

Anything by Sarah Ganim is FAKE NEWS.

Good point but I don't think the Penn State brass cares about this money either. They can just raise tuition with a stroke of the pen and I think they view the people who donate as useful dupes. The bottom line is that anyone who can dream up a law suit against Penn State has good chance of getting loads of money with little push back.

The kid's suicide note said he thought about killing himself his whole life. Money grab and they'll probably settle for like $50,000.

This kind of thing really frosts me. The family is using the death of their son to enrich themselves. Very tacky indeed. A total lack of dignity for the tragic situation. I think it puts them in the category of trailer trash. There is a good chance they were goaded into filing a lawsuit by a scum bag lawyer who just sees dollar signs and cares nothing for the kid. Pathetic.

Sad situation but Kid had suicidal thoughts his whole life and parents sue PSU, real nice. Parents seem like trash trying to make money of their own son suicide.

Getmyjive will be on here soon telling us why PSU is at fault and should pay. So don't form an opinion until he tells you the right way to think.
